The chronology of the abduction of Nayati

April 27: Immediately after the 12-year-old student was kidnapped outside Mont'Kiara International School (MKIS), his father, Sham Moodliar lodged a police report at Travers police station.

Residents turned up outside the school in a show of support and distributed posters of the missing boy while the family and concerned citizens engaged Facebook and Twitter to help spread awareness.
Nayati’s friend posted a video clip on YouTube alerting the public on his abduction and caling for his safe return. MKIS posted Nayati’s disappearance on its website http://www.mkis.edu.my/

The incident also caught Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s attention who tweeted about his concern and directed Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar to investigate the matter.

April 28: As Nayati’s photographs were being posted everywhere around the city, support too poured in via the social media. The family set up a dedicated Facebook page (Please Help Us To Find Nayati Moodliar) and a link to @Nayati2012 Twitter account.

Search for Nayati continues as Malaysians distributed posters and flyers all over the country. Telcos also joined in efforts to locate the boy by sending out SMSes.

April 29: News of Nayati’s abduction reached as far as Belgium, where concerned people shared his photographs and lit candles to pray for his safety. Netizens from Singapore, South Africa and the Netherlands also expressed their sympathy and offer words of encouragement to the family.

April 30: A news portal Malaysian Digest launched the Bring Nayati Home campaign followed by a prominent local businessman who via the campaign offered a reward of RM50,000 for information leading to the safe return of the boy. Another news portal Malaysian Times also offered RM10,000 reward for the same effort.

Association of Banks Malaysia distributed Nayati’s poster to its members around Malaysia.

May 1: Former Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and Umno’s "Skuad Sayang" distributed 10,000 Nayati’s posters in several areas in Kuala Lumpur.

May 3: Nayati was found safe after he was released by his abductors at the Sungai Buloh rest and recreation area at 7.55am.
